Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo traveled to Bamako on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, for a friendly visit, marking a significant step in cooperation between Burkina Faso and Mali. He was warmly received upon arrival by General of Division Abdoulaye Maïga, the Malian Head of Government, and was accompanied by a substantial ministerial delegation, reflecting Ouagadougou’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional relations.
During his stay, the Burkinabè Prime Minister participated in the celebration of the second anniversary of Mali’s Citizen Brigade, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting civic responsibility, social cohesion, and patriotic engagement. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on fostering active citizenship and to reinforce human and institutional ties essential for regional stability.
An audience with the Head of State of Mali was also held, followed by a working session between the two delegations. Discussions focused on strengthening security, economic, and political cooperation within the Sahel States Confederation, as well as on regional coordination mechanisms to address common challenges, including counter-terrorism and inclusive development.
The visit reflects the determination of both countries to consolidate their relationship in a spirit of sustainable partnership based on solidarity and mutual respect. It also highlights the importance of the AES Confederation as a privileged framework for strategic cooperation in West Africa, where dialogue and concerted action are essential to building a more stable, prosperous, and united region. Beyond official protocols, this meeting symbolizes a shared vision: an Africa capable of relying on its own strengths and institutions to promote security, progress, and regional integration.
