Addis Ababa will host a major continental event set to shape the future of Africa’s infrastructure. From June 9 to 12, 2025, the PIDA Round Table will bring together policymakers, investors, climate finance experts, and Member States under the theme: “Mobilizing Climate Finance for Africa’s Infrastructure Future.”
Organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with AUDA-NEPAD, the African Development Bank (AfDB), GIZ, and other partners, the event will take place at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Ethiopia’s capital.
Setting the Stage: Opening Remarks from Key Leaders
The opening session will feature powerful messages from two key figures driving Africa’s infrastructure and climate agenda:
Dr. Kamugisha Kazuma, Director for Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission, will underscore the urgency of aligning infrastructure development with climate resilience and sustainable growth.
Ms. Annele Janz-Huber, Head of Component and Sector Coordinator at GIZ-AU, will highlight the importance of strong partnerships, technical support, and policy innovation to drive infrastructure transformation on the continent.
A Platform for Action
This year’s PIDA Round Table is designed not just to talk, but to act. The event will include:
. Live Project Pitches from Member States
Countries will present bankable, climate-aligned infrastructure projects seeking financing, partnerships, or technical support from cross-border energy corridors to climate-smart transport networks.
. Matchmaking with Investors & Climate Funds
Dedicated sessions will connect project owners with a wide spectrum of financiers: public, private, philanthropic, and multilateral.
. Policy Dialogues on Climate-Aligned Investment
Stakeholders will co-develop practical policy recommendations to ensure climate risk, adaptation, and mitigation are built into infrastructure planning from the start.
. Financing Innovation Spotlight
Explore how green bonds, guarantees, and blended finance models can unlock the billions Africa needs for a resilient infrastructure revolution.
Why It Matters
Africa stands at a crossroads: the continent needs massive infrastructure investment to meet development goals, yet it must do so in a way that is climate-smart, inclusive, and future-proof. The PIDA Round Table 2025 represents a unique opportunity to align stakeholders around this shared vision.
The projects, partnerships, and policies shaped in Addis Ababa this June could define how Africa builds for the next generation.
