Engineer, author, leader of a thousand young people, and now International Correspondent for RussAfrik Media — Yonas Martin Z Lut embodies the African generation that refuses to ask permission to exist on the world stage.

Some trajectories tell more than a life story. They tell the story of a generation, a continent, a promise. That of Yonas Martin Z Lut, born on July 4, 1997, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is one of them.

Raised under challenging circumstances, he forged early on the qualities that would define his entire life: resilience, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose. Academic excellence came quickly — a 4.0 GPA in Grade 10, top of his section in Grade 11, and in his final year, a rare distinction: he was selected as a finalist for the prestigious African Leadership Academy, the only candidate from a public school among the finalists. Already during those years, he published two books, reflecting a mind already oriented toward transmission and impact.

A Man Who Builds Leaders

At Ambo University, where he earned his Civil Engineering degree in 2019, Yonas pursued two parallel missions: academic excellence and human leadership. He became the chairman of a Christian student fellowship of over one thousand members, established mentorship systems that empowered more than one hundred emerging leaders, and served as one of the founding board members of the national student council of EVASUE (Ethiopian Evangelical Students and Graduates Union). It was also during these years that he published “ትውልደ ትውልድ”“One Generation” — a book on transformation and generational impact that encapsulates his worldview.

The Engineer Who Builds Cities and People

After graduating in 2019, he joined the Addis Ababa Housing Development Corporation as a Civil Engineer and Contract Administrator, contributing to landmark projects shaping the Ethiopian capital: G+4 Entoto, 3G+10 Girar, G+21 Bethel. In 2023, he took on the role of Engineering Manager at Brukey Logistics, adding a confirmed managerial dimension to his technical expertise.

A National Leader, A Continental Voice

In 2022, at a national gathering in Bishoftu, Yonas was appointed Main Youth Leader of the Ethiopian Evangelical Lutheran Church — a front-line responsibility at the scale of a nation of over 120 million people. His influence soon crossed borders: through leadership initiatives in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Kakamega, Kenya, he began weaving the threads of a pan-African network of young leaders united by a shared vision.

RussAfrik and SMB Afrique: Two Homes, One Conviction

Since 2025, Yonas Martin Z Lut has served as International Correspondent for RussAfrik Media, amplifying African realities to an international audience from the Ethiopian and East African field. Alongside this, he joined the leadership team of SMB Afrique Editions — the pan-African publishing house founded by Dr. Emile Parfait SIMB — as Head of Digital and Technology. In this dual role, he stands at the intersection of ground-level African journalism and digital editorial transformation.

The Vision

His conviction is captured in a single sentence: to inspire individuals and communities to rise beyond limitation, lead with integrity, and create lasting impact through faith, vision, and disciplined action. From Addis Ababa to Nairobi, from the lecture halls of Ambo to the pages of RussAfrik, Yonas Martin Z Lut is living proof that Africa is not waiting. It is building, training, publishing, and leading.
